ABSTRACT

Objective@#To investigate the clinical effect of concentrated growth factor (CGF) applied in guided bone regeneration (GBR) for severe bone deficiency in the anterior maxilla.@*Methods @#Forty patients with bone defects in the anterior maxilla were chosen to be treated with GBR, 20 patients were treated with CGF applied in GBR as the observation group, and the other 20 patients were treated only with GBR as the control group. The evaluation of wound healing was performed after the operation, and bone augmentation was evaluated half a year after the operation.@*Results@#The first-stage healing rate of soft tissue wounds in the observation group was 100% and 75% in the control group, and the primary healing rate in the observation group was better than that in the control group (P=0.017). The changes in bone width of the observation group were (3.70 ± 0.28) mm, and those of the control group were (2.96 ± 0.16) mm. The bone augmentation in the observation group was higher than that in the control group (P=0.000). @*Conclusion@#CGF applied in GBR has a good effect on bone augmentation for severe bone deficiency in the anterior maxilla.

ABSTRACT

Objective@# To analyze the clinical characteristics and treatment experience of Vitamin B12 (VB12) deficient patients with recurrent aphthous ulcers (RAU) to improve the clinical efficacy. @*Methods@#A retrospective analysis was performed on 15 cases of recurrent oral ulcers from January 2016 to September 2018. The causes were analyzed according to the patients’ clinical characteristics. @*Results@# In total, 15 patients with RAU had no remission after routine immunotherapy. Further clinical examination suggested that vitamin B12 levels were reduced. The erythrocyte mean corpuscular volume (MCV) was significantly increased, and the average number of red blood cells (RBC) and hemoglobin (Hb) levels were decreased. RAU disappeared after vitamin B12 supplementation. Routine blood work showed that the MCV returned to the normal range, which was statistically significant compared with the pretreatment MCV (P < 0.001). Vitamin B12 serum levels were significantly higher (P < 0.001) than those before treatment.@*Conclusion @#When the main manifestation of vitamin B12 deficiency is recurrent oral ulcer symptoms, dentists should examine the lesions carefully, inquire about the medical history in detail, and perform further serological tests when necessary to avoid the overuse of immunosuppressive drugs for treatment.

Tripterygium wilfordii glycoside is an effective component extracted from Tripterygium wilfordii Hook.F.It has an effect on immunosuppression and anti-inflammatory which is used to treatments of rheumatic arthritis and nephrotic syndrome on clinic.The liver adverse reactions have been particularly significant in Tripterygium wilfordii glycoside induced adverse reactions.The aim of this article is to summarize the research of hepatotoxicity mechanism of Tripterygium wilfordii glycoside in recent ten years,to analyze toxic material base,and to search for the attenuated drugs and mechanism.For the clinical application of Tripterygium wilfordii glycoside this article provides related literature and theoretical basis research.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate the effects of rhubarb powder on serum complement 3 (C3), complement 4 (C4), and hypersensitive C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) levels in patients with hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage (HICH) after operation.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Forty inpatients with HICH after operation were recruited from Department of Cerebral Surgery, Affiliated Hospital of Shaanxi College of Traditional Chinese Medicine from July 2009 to March 2010. They were randomly assigned to the treatment group (20 cases) and the control group (20 cases). From the 4th day after surgery, all patients received routine Western medical treatment. The rhubarb powder, 5-10 g dissolving in 40 mL warm water, was administered or nasally fed to those in the treatment group, 2 -3 times daily for 10 successive days. The contents of serum C3, C4, and hs-CRP were detected in the two groups on the 7th day and the 14th day after operation. The serum hs-CRP content was detected using latex particle enhanced immunoturbidimetric assay. The Scandinavia Stroke Scale (SSS) scores were recorded in the two groups.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Compared with the same group on the 4th day after operation, the levels of serum C3 and C4 increased on the 7th day after operation, and SSS score increased on the 14th day after operation in the control group (P < 0.05). The contents of C4 and hs-CRP decreased, and the SSS score increased on the 14th day after operation in the treatment group (P < 0.05). Compared with the same group on the 7th day after operation, the contents of C4 and hs-CRP decreased and the SSS score increased on the 14th day after operation in the treatment group (P < 0.05). Compared with the control group at the same time points, the contents of C4 and C3 decreased on the 7th day after operation; the contents of C3, C4, and hs-CRP decreased, and SSS score increased in the treatment group on the 14th day after operation (P < 0.05).</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>The rhubarb powder could significantly decrease the serum levels of C3, C4, and hs-CRP, and improve the curative effect in patients with HICH after operation.</p>
